MDE Physical Education Standards Committee

Apply for the Physical Education Standards Committee by July 5, 2026

Applications are now open for the Physical Education Standards Committee. Applications will close on Sunday, August 2, 2026. MDE is seeking Physical Education teachers, and representatives from many groups, as outlined in the adult assumptions document and student assumptions document.  

The goal of the Physical Education Standards Committee is to review and revise the Physical Education state level standards for Minnesota. Applicants must agree to the assumptions and the timeline, be available for all meetings from September 2026 through June 2027. In addition to the full group meetings, there will be many small group meetings scheduled to draft standards and benchmarks. 

Student Application Process

For all high school students interested in participating in the Physical Education Standards Committee:

1. Read the Student Physical Education Standards Committee Guiding Assumptions.
2. If you agree to the assumptions, please complete the Student Physical Education Standards Committee Application.
3. All student applications will be reviewed by MDE.
4. Selected students, along with their parent(s) or guardian(s), will be notified by MDE.

Adult Application Process

For all Physical Education educators, experts, and interested community members who want to participate in the Physical Education Standards Committee:

1. Read the Adult Physical Education Standards Committee Guiding Assumptions.
2. If you agree to the assumptions, please complete the Adult Physical Education Standards Committee Application.
3. All applications will be reviewed by MDE.
4. Selected applicants will be notified by MDE, and a list of adult committee members will be posted to the website.
